Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what your day-to-day life looks like?

My name is Chioma. I am the daughter of a Nigerian immigrant and Kentucky girl. I have 3 siblings, two sisters, and a brother. I was born and raised in KY and currently live in Lexington, KY with my husband, son, and our cat. I have two jobs. I am currently working as a registered nurse and nurse practitioner, so on my work days, I usually wake up pretty early. Depending on which job I am working, I will eat breakfast at home or get breakfast at the hospital. Once my work day is over, when I get home I will either cook dinner for my family, or my husband has made dinner for us. If my son (16mo) is still awake, I will play with him for a while until his bedtime. After we put him to bed, we all wind down for the day with a good to show. My family and friends are the most important things to me, and I have been very fortunate to have some truly amazing people in my life.

How would you describe your personal style, and how did you express it through your bridal footwear choice on your wedding day?

I would say my personal style is a mix of bohemian and 90s grunge, and most of the time I prioritize comfort. I think my shoe choice was mostly inspired by my want for a comfortable yet simple shoe.

What does a typical day in your life look like, and how does your footwear play a role in it—especially when you were preparing for your wedding?

A typical day in my life is spent mostly on my feet while working. My go-to shoe for work or just long days in general, is Hoka, partially because they are very good on the soles of your feet, but they are also very good for wide feet. I have always had wide, flat feet, and I knew I would need a shoe that would be wide enough but also not too wide because I didn’t want to worry about slipping and sliding down the isle.

What were some of the biggest challenges you faced when trying to find the perfect wedding shoes that fit and felt comfortable?

Some of the biggest challenges I faced were finding a size 11 shoe that was wide, but not too wide, that had a heel but was not too high, and that LOOKED like a wedding shoe.

Do you have any memorable stories or moments tied to the shoes you wore on your wedding day?

Our wedding venue was located on the campus of my alma mater, Berea College. There is a chapel on campus where my parents were married 40 years prior. We wanted to get some pictures in that building, which is almost across campus from our venue, and I remember thinking to myself how thankful I was to be wearing shoes I could make that trek in.

What were the top three things you looked for when choosing your wedding shoes?

1.The color white
2.Wide fit
3.Platform

How did you first come across Wydr Studios, and what made you decide to trust us for such an important day?

I first came across Wydr Studios on google while doing a preliminary search for wedding shoes. I decided to trust Wydr because of good reviews on Google and Reddit.

What stood out to you about our bridal footwear compared to other brands you considered?

What really stood out to me was the emphasis on creating beautiful footwear for people with bigger feet. For the first time, I didn’t feel like an afterthought to a brand. I finally felt I found shoes that were made with me in mind. I was also very pleased with how affordable the shoes are. I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on a pair of shoes I would wear for one day.

How did wearing our shoes impact your wedding day experience—were you able to dance all night or stay comfortable throughout the day?

I was able to wear the shoes (Iris Clog Mary Jane) comfortably all day and night. I didn’t feel like wanting to take them off even once.

What are some of your favorite activities now, and how does your choice of Wydr footwear support these in your everyday life?

I really enjoy going on walks, and I have started looking into Wydr for walking shoes.

What role did comfort and functionality play in your decision when choosing bridal shoes?

The factors played a big role in my decision. I wanted shoes I wouldn’t regret. I wanted shoes I would be excited to wear.

What advice would you give to a bride-to-be who is struggling to find the perfect wedding shoes?

I would suggest being very specific in your search, whether that’s an online search or in person. Be specific about what you want/need in a shoe, and don’t settle until you find it.

How does the footwear you choose reflect your values, such as quality, comfort, or style—especially when it comes to an event as important as your wedding?

For me, I was very intentional about everything I wore that day, and I knew there would be enough stress/things to worry about. I didn’t want sore feet to be one of them.

In what ways do you see your wedding shoes as more than just an accessory—perhaps as a reflection of your personality or a part of your love story?

I definitely think my wedding shoes reflect my personality because they are practical but also fun. That was very important to me. I think this also reflects our love story. My husband is a very practical person and is very good about helping me stay grounded. He is also 100% a comfort person for me. Life is too short to wear uncomfortable shoes or relationships lol.

What would you say to a future bride considering trying Wydr Studios for her wedding shoes?

I would definitely say to keep Wydr in your mind especially if you are a bride who has always struggled finding shoes that are the right fit. Wydr is committed to manufacturing a great product, and it shows in the quality of their shoes. I didn’t regret my wedding shoe decision once.
