Hi, I'm Sara Ramsey! I'm an attorney working for a legal nonprofit in St. Louis, Missouri, where I help ensure that low-income individuals have access to the legal justice they deserve. I grew up in a tiny town in Missouri (population: 400!) before spending more than a decade in the San Francisco Bay Area. Recently, I made my way back to the Midwest, and while I love being closer to home, I still have a serious case of wanderlust.
When I'm not in the office (coffee in hand), you can find me exploring the world with my husband (we just got married this past spring)—though every trip means time away from my two beloved Chihuahuas, Margo and Bertie, who are always ready for a cuddle. I'm a weekend travel warrior, and last year alone, I checked Switzerland, Portugal, Morocco, Iceland, Spain, Gibraltar, and Canada off my list. Life is a balance of meaningful work, adventure, and plenty of puppy snuggles—and I wouldn't have it any other way!
How would you describe your personal style, and how do you express it through your footwear choices?
I'd say my personal style is a bit of a chameleon—it all depends on the day! Some days, I'm all about comfy-casual, leaning into effortless, laid-back looks. Other days, I'm slipping into a power suit and channeling my inner high-powered attorney, à la Suits . No matter the vibe, though, one thing is non-negotiable: my footwear has to be comfortable. The perfect pair of shoes not only keeps up with my ever-changing style but also adds that extra touch of confidence. Whether I'm dressing up or keeping it low-key, my shoes have to be cute, on-trend, and ready for whatever the day throws at me!
What does a typical day in your life look like, and how does your footwear play a role in it?
From the moment my feet hit the floor in the morning, I'm all about efficiency—after coffee, of course! More often than I'd like to admit, I skip brewing it at home and make a beeline to my favorite local café instead. Once I'm in the office, I spend a good chunk of the day at my desk, so while I may not be racking up steps, comfort is key when it comes to my footwear. After work, it's a different story—my soles hit the pavement for a much-needed post-work walk with my husband and our two Chihuahuas, Margo and Bertie. By the evening, it's finally time to kick back, whether that means getting lost in a good book, playing Stardew Valley with my husband, or unwinding with a great TV show. No matter what the day holds, my shoes have to keep up—from morning coffee runs to evening strolls and everything in between!
What were some of the biggest challenges you've faced with finding footwear that fits in the past?
Finding cute, stylish shoes has always been a challenge for me. I remember shopping at Payless with my mom as a kid, struggling to find wide-width shoes that actually worked for special occasions. The selection was always limited, and it felt like I had to settle rather than truly choose.
Even now, shopping for wide-width shoes can feel like a treasure hunt—especially in-store, where the options are few and far between. Online shopping opens up more possibilities, but the selection still pales in comparison to standard sizes. More often than not, it takes a long search to track down the perfect pair that's both fashionable and comfortable. But when I do? It's absolutely worth the effort! Do you have any memorable stories or experiences tied to the footwear you've worn over the years?
There's one pair of shoes I've been chasing ever since high school—my perfect, rainbow, sparkly, sequined flats.
