Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what your day-to-day life looks like?
I’m Marge, a proud New Yorker since 2011, living in Brooklyn with my dog Poppy, a cheese-loving cockapoo who enjoys lazy couch days and the occasional adventure (we’re basically twins).
I moved to NYC after graduating with a music degree and ended up in retail to pay the bills. What started as a temporary gig turned into a passion for helping others feel confident in their fashion choices—especially when, as a plus-size woman, I rarely saw options that reflected my style. This journey led me to Dia & Co, where I started as a stylist and now am the head of brand marketing, leading everything from new customer growth, customer retention and loyalty, and owned / paid marketing channel strategy. It’s been an incredible ride, blending my love for fashion with a focus on community.
On a typical day, I’m either working from home (comfy pants only, please) or in the office, which is packed with meetings, brainstorming sessions, and lots of collaboration. Office days are my chance to lean into my personal style—corporate yet casual chic—with a quick “outfit of the day” video for my IG stories as I head out the door, fueled by coffee and a little Pinterest inspiration.

How would you describe your personal style, and how do you express it through your footwear choices?
For years, finding even the basics—like a perfect pair of jeans or a white tee—felt like a challenge. Now, after 15 years in the plus-size fashion industry (and two closets overflowing with options), I’ve embraced a classic foundation—well-fitting staples I can make my own with bold accessories. A statement shoe, fun jacket, oversized glasses, or a bold lip are my signature touches.
Retail taught me the struggle of choosing between comfort and style, but it’s exciting to see brands finally merging both. Now, I’m all about footwear that’s both stylish and functional—a total game-changer.
What were some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced with finding footwear that fits in the past?
Knee-high boots were always my nemesis. I’ll never forget an 8-hour shopping marathon with my patient mom, trying on every “wide calf” option—only to find none of them fit. After countless failed attempts, we finally found the perfect pair at a specialty store, and I wore them for a decade. I even had the soles replaced. Those boots were a true MVP.

Do you have any memorable stories or experiences tied to the footwear you’ve worn over the years?
Definitely! During my third year in NYC, I stumbled upon a pair of Frye moto boots at a boutique, and it was love at first sight. They fit like a dream and instantly made me feel cooler than I actually was—it was magic. Those boots were my go-to until they were completely worn out. RIP to an icon.
Also, I share a fashion bond with my 18-year-old niece through our matching Comme des Garçons Converse sneakers. They’re our little connection, and I love that.
What are the top three things you look for when choosing a pair of shoes?
-
Comfort (life’s hard enough)
-
Styling versatility
-
Quality for the price
How did you first come across Wydr Studios, and what made you decide to give it a try?
I first saw Wydr on influencers I follow—they all raved about the quality and styled them in ways I could totally see myself recreating. At the time, I was looking to replace a pair of platform loafers I bought as a trend test. The reviews were so good that I took the plunge, and after one wear, I knew I made the right choice.

What stood out to you about our footwear compared to other brands you’ve tried?
The comfort was a total game-changer. Usually, new shoes take a while to break in, especially for wide feet, but these felt perfect right out of the box. Plus, the packaging felt luxurious and high-end. Since then, I’ve added four more pairs to my collection, and each one has been just as comfortable as the first.
How has wearing our shoes impacted your daily life or activities?
Living in Brooklyn and commuting into Manhattan means I need shoes that are both comfortable and stylish. I’m not the type to schlep an extra pair to change into at the office—I need something that works the moment I step out the door. Wydr’s shoes have been a game-changer because they look polished but feel like I could walk in them all day. Whether I’m running between meetings, grabbing coffee with a friend, or spending the evening out, I never have to think twice about whether my shoes can keep up.
What are some of your favorite activities, and how does your choice of footwear support these?
I’m always on the go—commuting 45 minutes to work with some walking involved, traveling to Connecticut to visit family, attending concerts, grabbing dinner with friends, or spending time at the gym and local coffee shops. When I’m not doing that, I’m lounging at home. My shoes need to keep up with it all—comfortable for long days on my feet but still stylish enough for everything else.

What role does comfort and functionality play in your footwear decisions?
Comfort and functionality are non-negotiable for me. After multiple surgeries and years of competitive skiing injuries, I learned the hard way that my footwear choices were critical in avoiding chronic pain. Now, I look for shoes that offer style, support, and versatility. Thankfully, I no longer have to choose between looking good and feeling good.
What advice would you give to someone who struggles with finding the right pair of shoes?
Know your foot shape—don’t settle for discomfort just because something looks cute. Invest in quality shoes that fit properly; they’ll last longer and feel better than cheaper alternatives that leave you with blisters. And don’t be afraid to try different styles—fashion should be fun! I love looking for inspiration on Pinterest to help me envision how I could recreate new trends in my own closet.
How does the footwear you choose reflect your values, such as sustainability, quality, or fashion?
Quality and comfort always come first. Whether it’s shoes for work, a long day of walking, or a workout, I need footwear that can keep up. I don’t mind having a variety of shoes, but I want each pair to serve a purpose—whether it’s for all-day support, making a statement, or just adding something fun to my wardrobe. Ultimately, I invest in shoes that make me feel confident and ready for whatever the day throws at me.

In what ways do you see footwear as more than just an accessory—perhaps as a reflection of identity or a means to tell your story?
Shoes are like a mood ring for your feet—they say so much about who you are, how you’re feeling, and where you’re going. They’re often the finishing touch that completes an outfit and sets the tone for the day. Some of my favorite pairs hold personal memories, like boots that marked my early years in NYC, sneakers that connect me to my niece, or heels that remind me of a dear friend’s wedding. They’re not just shoes—they’re part of my story.
What would you say to someone considering trying Wydr Studios for the first time?
Go for it! Wydr Studios offers the perfect mix of style and comfort. These shoes are comfortable from day one and versatile enough for any occasion—work, running errands, or going out. They’ve quickly become a staple in my wardrobe, and I’m sure they’ll work for you too.
What is your favorite pair of Wydr shoes that you've tried?
I’m a big fan of the Sam Lucky Penny Leather Loafers, especially with the platform lug sole. My first pair were the silver lug sole loafers, and I loved them so much that I had to get them in black as well.
I also HAVE to shout out the metallic gold Darcy Pleated Platform Sandals. I originally bought them to compare them to a “very well-known comfort brand,” and wow, was I impressed! Darcy made it through a quarter mile of walking to the venue, from cocktail hour to the after-party dance floor, and I didn’t want to take them off. I was shocked! I’ve never had a pair of dressier heeled sandals that could handle it all for a wedding and still look fabulous styled with jeans for work.
