When we first launched the Sam Lucky Penny Leather Loafers, we knew we had something special. A wide-fit loafer that didn't compromise on style – buttery genuine leather, the signature lucky penny coin, and a sole built for real comfort. Over the past two years, many of you have worn them, loved them, and, just as importantly, told us exactly how they could be even better.
We took that feedback seriously. We went back to our workshop, refined the design, and put the results through rigorous testing. The Sam Lucky Penny 2.0 is the outcome of that process – the same loafer you've come to rely on, with a few considered updates that make it fit and feel even more like it was made for you.
What's New in the Sam 2.0
A New Last Built for More Volume
One of the most consistent pieces of feedback we received was about volume around the instep and forefoot. We redesigned the last from the ground up, increasing the girth, volume, and instep height compared to the original Sam Lucky. The result is a shoe that slips on with ease and settles comfortably around your foot — no breaking-in battle required.
Hidden Elastic for a More Secure Fit
Slip-on shoes are all about that sweet spot between easy to get on and secure when you're wearing them. We've added a hidden elastic panel that gives the shoe a little more adaptability without disrupting the clean silhouette you love. It's a subtle addition — you won't see it, but you'll definitely feel the difference.
An Upgraded Outsole
The Sam 2.0 features an improved outsole material composition with a higher rubber percentage, and the lab results back it up — better grip, improved durability, and a slightly more cushioned feel underfoot. It's the kind of upgrade that doesn't change how the shoe looks, but quietly makes every step better.
A New Burgundy Leather
The Burgundy in the Sam 2.0 is something a little different. It's not the high-gloss patent you may know from our other styles, and it's not matte – it's a waxy leather with a natural, deep shine that feels more lived-in and rich. The colour itself is more vibrant too, with a depth that catches the light in a way patent simply can't. It's the kind of Burgundy that looks just as good on day one as it does after a hundred wears.
Same Soul, Refined
The Sam Lucky was always designed around one idea: that wide-fit women deserve shoes that are genuinely beautiful and genuinely comfortable. The Sam 2.0 doesn't change that — it deepens it. Everything that made the original a favourite is still here. We've just tightened the details, based on what you told us mattered most. Oh, and the penny? She got a refresh too.
