Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what your day-to-day life looks like?
I’m Emilia! I’m a native Rhode Islander who recently made a big move to Houston and I have been loving the change so far! I spend my days working from home in IT with my very spoiled cat, Mystery. However, I am that weird person who still gets dressed every day because it is the thing that brings me joy. Putting on an outfit that just makes me feel good is just such a great way to start off the day! But sharing these work from home fits was how I got my start in content creation. When I’m not in front of a screen, either working or filming, I love to dance! I am Puerto Rican and grew up dancing salsa and bachata but never saw someone with my body on stage, and being able to join teams and be the representation I always wanted to see has been so healing
How would you describe your personal style, and how do you express it through your footwear choices?
As a person whose worst nightmare used to be getting dressed for the office, somehow a good business casual look has become my staple. I just love some good elevated basics that fit well and work together. This is included in my footwear choices, I like elevated pieces that fit well!
What does a typical day in your life look like, and how does your footwear play a role in it?
I spend most of my day working from home so 5pm comes and it is my time to shine. Once I can shut my laptop, it is time for me to recharge my social battery as an extrovert and mix and mingle. Whether this is some cocktails with the girlies, or hosting a dinner party, I like to show up in style. This means my shoes need to complete the look as well! They are the cherry on top that ties everything together.
What were some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced with finding footwear that fits in the past?
Finding options for wide width shoes has always been the biggest challenge. I very often felt like I should “feel lucky” that I would at least be able to find an option. Singular. If that. It took a very long time for me to accept the fact that I deserve more than one option for shoes. I should be able to have the different shoe types and have them in different colors and all the other things that come with shoe shopping.
Do you have any memorable stories or experiences tied to the footwear you’ve worn over the years?
I always found it funny that as a content creator, people always assumed I owned a lot of shoes. Before discovering Wydr, this truly wasn’t the case. For most of my life I really owned around 3 pairs of shoes at any given time because footwear and shoes was just not something that made me feel good. I have had more breakdowns in stores over shoes than anything else.

Comfort, versatility, quality.
How did you first come across Wydr Studios, and what made you decide to give it a try?
I started seeing Wydr floating around on Instagram as some of the first drops were being released and I just remember seeing the potential. Like if they were already committed to having such amazing options right off the gate, I couldn’t wait to see what else the brand would be capable of - and I was right!~

So. Many. Options. In so many colors! For so many lifestyles. And unique options. Like yes, there are often your staple colors, but what if I wanted something different? Wydr provides that opportunity.

Having Wydr shoes in my closet just honestly gives me so much joy, where previous shoes always made what would be a great outfit just feel slightly off. It honestly made me feel self conscious, it was just there at the back of my mind. Now that I have shoes I feel confident in, I don’t have to worry about that slightly nagging thought when I am out and about.

I love hanging out with friends, and especially planning for occasions to dress up! (Date nights are important not just with your significant other!) Having shoes that match that look really boosts my confidence.

It’s a must! I could have tried to squeeze into shoes that didn’t quite fit but it is not worth the pain or discomfort that comes when trying to do so.

Measure measure measure! With an actual ruler or tape measure. Have this as reference when shopping. If you’re limited to online shopping, find people who have a similar size/style to you. Don’t be afraid to ask the brand or people you see wearing the shoes more information about them!

Plus/extended sizes are so often an after thought, that I really try to prioritize shopping at brands where we are front of mind - and this includes with my footwear!
In what ways do you see footwear as more than just an accessory—perhaps as a reflection of identity or a means to tell your story?
Footwear completes a look for me. Whether I am wearing a pair of sneakers or a pointed heel, my shoe choice is helping to express some sort of identity. When you have even more limited choices to help express that identity, it can become really difficult.
What would you say to someone considering trying Wydr Studios for the first time?
Measure your feet! Wydr truly takes wide width shoes to heart, so it may not be like other brands that say they were wide width but…like barely. Also consider some of their unique colors! This is your opportunity to be bold, so go for it.
What is your favorite pair of Wydr shoes till date and why?
I love all of my Wydr shoes but before the Roam Slip on Sneakers, I have not worn sneakers outside of the gym in actual YEARS. I am obsessed with how comfy this sneaker is and it can be dressed up or down and they are so easy to put on - they’re absolutely amazing.
