Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what your day-to-day life looks like?
I’m a full time student currently working towards getting my degree in psychology. While my day-to-day involves a lot of studying and schoolwork, I always make time for self-care and spending time with the people I love. I enjoy reading, reformer pilates, trying new restaurants, going to the beach, and exploring the latest and greatest spots in Vancouver.
How would you describe your personal style, and how do you express it through your footwear choices?
I would describe my personal style is femme and chic, but always comfortable. I truly prioritize being comfortable over everything and shoes that fit well are a must.
What does a typical day in your life look like, and how does your footwear play a role in it?
I am always on the go and I must have shoes that take me where I need to go. Comfort above everything, but I won’t settle for shoes that don’t match my style and Wydr always comes through for me.
What were some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced with finding footwear that fits in the past?
I have found there to be a lack of overall options in shoes that reflect my style. It is such a bummer when you see out of all the shoes in a store or online that there are only a handful of wide fit options and they’re all lowkey ugly? It sounds harsh, but if you know, you know!
Do you have any memorable stories or experiences tied to the footwear you’ve worn over the years?
For most major occasions in my life I can remember planning the perfect outfit and of course having to find the perfect shoes to tie the whole look together.
What are the top three things you look for when choosing a pair of shoes?
They must be comfortable, cute, and made to last!
How did you first come across Wydr Studios, and what made you decide to give it a try?
I came across Wydr last year and could not believe how cute the shoes were, I knew I had to give them a try. Another thing that really stood out to me was on the Wydr Instagram how there were so many people with bodies similar to mine. I think most of us plus-size folks know that we are often not represented in brand marketing/social feeds and this felt really special to see.
What stood out to you about our footwear compared to other brands you’ve tried?
The quality of Wydr is truly unmatched. I have several pairs that have survived through the rain, snow, and daily wear that still look fantastic.
How has wearing our shoes impacted your daily life or activities?
Knowing I can be comfortable and look cute is such a confidence booster.
What are some of your favorite activities, and how does your choice of footwear support these?
I am so grateful to live in Vancouver, which is in such a walkable city. Because I love to explore the city, I need shoes that are comfortable. Vancouver also rains a ton, so it’s important that my shoes also fair well in the rain.
What role does comfort and functionality play in your footwear decisions?
I’m not sure if this is a canon event in your late 20’s or if it’s just me, but I refuse to wear any shoes that give me blisters or make me uncomfortable. Comfort over everything!
What advice would you give to someone who struggles with finding the right pair of shoes?
Keep trying, once you find the right pair you will know, feel confident, and then want them in every color.
How does the footwear you choose reflect your values, such as sustainability, quality, or fashion?
Supporting brands that are community focused is really important to me and that is one of the many reasons I love Wydr.
In what ways do you see footwear as more than just an accessory—perhaps as a reflection of identity or a means to tell your story?
I think a good pair of shoes can change your whole outfit and your attitude.
