From Scouring the Internet to Running in Heels: Tricia’s Search for a Better Fit

For years, Tricia searched for footwear that could keep up with her style without asking her to compromise on fit or comfort. 1. Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what your day-to-day life looks like?

I'm Tricia, 31, a plus size fashion creator. I love creating content that makes people smile and feel beautiful no matter their size. I've built a little corner of the internet where people in larger bodies can show up exactly as they are and know they’re worthy and seen. I spend a lot of my time with friends and I'm a huge advocate for community. I love reading, traveling, and learning about new things. I'm always looking up random stuff and going down deep rabbit holes.

2. How would you describe your personal style, and how do you express it through your footwear choices?

My personal style is always evolving. As a plus size person, it can be hard to find a style you truly connect with because the options can feel limiting. I'd describe mine as a mix of bold and classic. I love fashion too much to tie myself to one lane, but when it comes to shoes, I'm a sneakerhead through and through. I love having them in every color and I express myself through bold shoes that complement my outfits.

3. What does a typical day in your life look like, and how does your footwear play a role in it?

My typical day is spent working from home and taking care of my father, so comfort is everything. I'm always reaching for a flat shoe with good support, usually a sneaker.

4. What were some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced with finding footwear that fits in the past?

Finding footwear that was wide enough but still trendy and cute felt nearly impossible. I wanted what everyone else was wearing, just in a wide fit, but wide fit and wide calf options always felt outdated.

5. Do you have any memorable stories or experiences tied to the footwear you’ve worn over the years?

Finding my first pair of wide calf boots at 16 is a memory I’ll always hold onto. I remember standing in my room, looking in the mirror, and tearing up because I could finally fit into a boot. I wore those boots until they fell apart.

6. What are the top three things you look for when choosing a pair of shoes?

Wide fit throughout the entire shoe, not just the toe box. Comfort and support with a good insole that can hold my weight without breaking down over time. And shoes that are unique and fun.

7. How did you first come across Wydr Studios, and what made you decide to give it a try?

I found Wydr on Instagram while searching for wide fit heels with a thick platform. Once I saw their full range, including how wide fit and wide calf their boots were, I was sold. I also met two amazing people from the Wydr team at Philly Fat Con, right across from my best friend's and my booth. Getting to talk with them and try the shoes on in person, I was blown away by the care, detail, and quality behind every pair.

8. What stood out to you about our footwear compared to other brands you’ve tried?

Wydr shoes go up to a 440+ pound weight limit, and that’s huge. Shoes built specifically for our bodies are almost nonexistent. Knowing that my weight is evenly distributed and supported, with durability I haven't found anywhere else, means everything.

9. How has wearing our shoes impacted your daily life or activities?

It's made me feel valued and seen. I get excited to put shoes on now because I know I'll have the support, fit, comfort, and style I actually want.

10. What are some of your favorite activities, and how does your choice of footwear support these?

My favorite activities are going out with friends, trying new restaurants, exploring new shops, and hanging out at coffee shops. I need comfort when I'm out walking around, but when I'm going out for the night, I don't want to sacrifice comfort for style. I want both.

11. What role does comfort and functionality play in your footwear decisions?

Comfort and functionality aren't just a bonus for me, they're the foundation. Style means nothing if my feet hurt by the end of the day. When a shoe actually supports my body the way it should, I can be fully present in whatever I'm doing instead of thinking about the pain I'm in. That's why finding brands that treat comfort as essential, not an afterthought, matters so much to me.

12. What advice would you give to someone who struggles with finding the right pair of shoes?

It's okay to feel discouraged when you can't find the right fit. Don’t give up. If I hadn't kept scouring the internet and different social platforms for wide fit shoes, I never would have found Wydr. Don't settle for shoes that don't fit and hurt your feet. You deserve comfort and style together.

13. How does the footwear you choose reflect your values, such as sustainability, quality, or fashion?

I only want to support businesses that make me, as a plus size person, feel appreciated and seen. I want to see people who look like me wearing the shoes so I can picture how they'll look on my wide feet and body type. I also want to support brands that take the time to be sustainable and deliver genuinely good quality.

14. In what ways do you see footwear as more than just an accessory—perhaps as a reflection of identity or a means to tell your story?

Shoes aren't just shoes to me. They're another way to express who I am. Some shoes are basically art, and it's so fun to play around with them.

15. What would you say to someone considering trying Wydr Studios for the first time?

They're worth every single penny. Wydr took the time to create shoes for so many different bodies and feet. They didn't just create shoes, they created a space where people in larger bodies can be seen, valued, and heard. That's beautiful.

16. What is your favorite pair of Wydr shoes till date and why?

I have two favorites. The Nomad Everyday Sneakers, hands down the most comfortable sneakers I've ever worn. They give my wide flat feet incredible support without compromising on cuteness. And the Daisy Vegan Platform Heels, which genuinely changed my life. Heels used to wreck my knees because most offer zero support, and I always struggled to walk in them. These are so sturdy I could practically run in them. The platform gives me real stability, and my feet don't hurt at all by the end of the night.
