For Kylie Sapp, finding the perfect wedding shoes meant finding a pair that felt just as true to her personal style as they did comfortable. With a love for platform footwear, alternative fashion, and statement pieces, she knew she wanted something beyond the traditional bridal shoe.

When she discovered Wydr, she found a pair that checked all the boxes: a style that reflected her personality, a comfortable fit for her wide feet, and a design she could wear confidently throughout her special day. From a courthouse ceremony to an evening celebration, Kylie’s wedding shoe story is a reminder that bridal style is most meaningful when it feels entirely your own.

  1. Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what your day-to-day life looks like?

Hi, I'm Kylie! I am a 34 year old corporate archivist in Metro-Detroit Michigan. I went to Michigan State University (Go Green!) for undergrad and Wayne State University for my masters. I love to watch horror movies and shows with my new husband, spend time with my family and my best friend. You can often find me playing with my rescue two dogs (Eleven and Kima) and cat (Junie B). I am a new aunt to a beautiful two year old little niece and she is such a joy in my life! I am also a large reader and lover of reality tv. I have also recently gotten very into cooking meals for my husband and I!

  1. How would you describe your personal style, and how did you express it through your bridal footwear choice on your wedding day?

I would call my regular style a bit alternative. I have tattoos, wear mostly black, and I love platform shoes. I don't want to admit how many pairs of black boots I own. A bold dark lip is my signature and has been since college. I also prioritize comfort a lot in my life. The days of wearing high heels to bars are far in my past! I wanted my "something blue" to be my shoes for my recent wedding so the ones I got from Wydr were perfect.
  1. What does a typical day in your life look like, and how does your footwear play a role in it—especially when you were preparing for your wedding?

A typical day in my life varies depending on if I am going into the office or if I am working from home. When I am working from home I'm definitely in slippers. If I am going into the office I'm usually in a platform boot or sandal, depending on the season. Or, because I live in Michigan, depending on the time of day; our weather is all over the place. As far as my choice in wedding shoes, I wanted to be comfortable and for them to be a statement. I also am tall at 5'9 and didn't want to be taller than my 6'2 husband so a shorter heel was necessary. I walk better in a block heel so that was important too.

  1. What were some of the biggest challenges you faced when trying to find the perfect wedding shoes that fit and felt comfortable?

I had a lot of challenges in finding a bridal shoe. I did not want a tall heel and I have a semi wide foot, especially for heels. The toe box was my biggest struggle as most shoes have quite a narrow one and I need a wider one. I also really wanted a blue shoe and that made things harder. I was so relieved when I found my shoes from Wydr!

  1. Do you have any memorable stories or moments tied to the shoes you wore on your wedding day?

I do not have a memorable story from my wedding day tied to my shoes other than my mom helping me put them on.

  1. What were the top three things you looked for when choosing your wedding shoes?

  • The color blue
  • Comes in a wide size
  • The height of the heel/platform

  1. How did you first come across Wydr Studios, and what made you decide to trust us for such an important day?

I came across Wydr from a Facebook ad! I saw the exact shoes I bought and knew I loved them. I ordered them within minutes, after sending the photo to my best friend for her opinion of course.

  1. What stood out to you about our bridal footwear compared to other brands you considered?

The main thing that stood out about Wydr was the range of styles all in a wide size. They were made for people like me! I didn't get the traditional white shoes and I loved that there were options other than the classic white shoe. I also love the use of platforms and different materials across the brand! My shoes were blue velvet which was very fun.

  1. How did wearing our shoes impact your wedding day experience—were you able to dance all night or stay comfortable throughout the day?

I had a civil courthouse ceremony and a dinner party after so there was not a lot of dancing beyond my first dance. However, I was comfortable all day! It was a long day, 11am to 11pm, and I didn't feel the need to take my shoes off once, which is rare for me!

  1. What are some of your favorite activities now, and how does your choice of Wydr footwear support these in your everyday life?

I do not have a pair of Wydr shoes outside of my wedding shoes but I would like to change that.

  1. What role did comfort and functionality play in your decision when choosing bridal shoes?

Comfort and functionality were both huge parts of my choice in wedding shoes. I knew it would be a long day and I did not want to be miserable or yearn to take them off!

  1. What advice would you give to a bride-to-be who is struggling to find the perfect wedding shoes?

I would tell a struggling bride to start looking early so you have multiple seasons to find the exact right shoe! I actually got mine around Christmas and my wedding was not until June. Also, it is ok to order multiple options and try them on. Additionally I would suggest being very specific in what you're searching for, but be open to shoes that aren't your traditional white or ivory wedding shoe. A statement shoe is always fun!

  1. How does the footwear you choose reflect your values, such as quality, comfort, or style—especially when it comes to an event as important as your wedding?

What footwear I own actually means a lot to me. I want them to be well made so they last, are comfortable, and are also stylish! I want them to reflect my personality and sense of style .I knew I wanted a statement shoe for my wedding because I wore a tea length dress. The shoes were on display all day!

  1. In what ways do you see your wedding shoes as more than just an accessory—perhaps as a reflection of your personality or a part of your love story?

My shoes were my "something blue" so they were a large part of my look on my special day. I also wanted them to reflect my more alternative style so I wanted them in a dark color with a platform, as those are the kinds of shoes I normally wear. You will rarely catch me not in a platform shoe!

  1. What would you say to a future bride considering trying Wydr Studios for her wedding shoes?

I would tell a future bride that Wydr shoes are a great option! My shoes were comfortable and really made my look come together.
