For Summer 2026, Wydr continues to evolve its design language through a collection shaped by thoughtful craftsmanship, elevated comfort, and a deeper understanding of how women want to move through everyday life. From refined mini-wedges to expanded vegan styles and fresh seasonal textures, the collection reflects the brand’s ongoing balance between functionality and fashion. We spoke with the Wydr team about the creative direction behind the season, the subtle details that define the fit experience, and what this next chapter signals for the future of the brand.
-
Summer at Wydr feels like a continuation of the brand’s design journey. When you began working on this collection, what was the starting point creatively?
We begin working on seasonal collections about eight to nine months before they appear on the website. The starting point is always a broad look at trends and what is happening across the retail landscape – not only in fashion, but also in lifestyle, culture, travel, and consumer behavior. From there, we refine the direction through the lens of the Wydr brand identity, focusing on pieces that feel relevant, functional, and consistent with our design journey. The Summer collection naturally evolved from that process, balancing new influences with the brand’s established aesthetic.

Wydr designs specifically with wide feet in mind. For summer sandals, what are some of the details customers might not notice immediately, but that make a real difference to fit?
Each sandal style is developed with its own unique fit parameters based on the specific construction. We do not apply a one-shape-fits-all approach. Every style is individually engineered to provide the right balance of width, stability, and flexibility. In addition, each style incorporates specially selected foam padding densities that enhance comfort and support without adding unnecessary bulk. These internal design choices may be subtle visually, but they make a significant difference in long-term wear and overall fit experience for wide feet.

The mini-wedge construction is new for Summer – as seen in the Palma and Roxette styles. What inspired the idea of creating something that feels almost like a flat, but with a little lift?
The mini-wedge construction was inspired by the idea of creating a sleeker, more elevated version of the traditional flat sandal. We wanted to offer customers the ease and versatility of a flat, while adding a subtle lift that enhances both the silhouette and the overall comfort experience. By slightly increasing the sole height, we were also able to introduce additional cushioning and support, giving the styles a more refined feel without compromising everyday wearability

Palma Bow Mini-Wedge Slides and Sierra Sporty Sandals have quickly become favorites amongst shoppers. What do you think makes these styles feel so right for the Wydr customer?
We definitely have customers with very different style preferences, so it has been exciting to see both the feminine bow detail of the Palma and the clean, sporty aesthetic of the Sierra resonate so strongly. I think what makes these styles feel right for the Wydr customer is that, despite their different looks, both prioritize comfort, ease, and thoughtful fit. They allow customers to express their personal style while still delivering the support and wearability that Wydr is known for.

This summer, we finally see the expansion of Wydr's vegan styles with Rosie Vegan Wedge Sandals and Daisy Platform Vegan Sandals. What was important to get right when designing these styles?
One of the most important aspects when designing our vegan styles was sourcing the right materials that worked both technically and aesthetically within the design. It was essential that the vegan options maintained the same level of comfort, fit, durability, and overall look that customers expect from Wydr. We spent a great deal of time selecting materials that not only performed well in wear, but also complemented the design language of the collection in a natural and elevated way.

We've seen the additions of Sky Blue and Raffia (in black and natural tones) this season. What drew you to those shades and textures, and how do you imagine customers wearing it?
Sky Blue felt like a natural addition to the season because it reflects emerging color trends while still being very easy to incorporate into everyday summer wardrobes. The shade adds freshness and versatility without feeling overly seasonal or difficult to style. Raffia, meanwhile, is a timeless summer staple in terms of texture and fabrication. It immediately evokes a relaxed, warm-weather mood and pairs effortlessly with other summer accessories like straw hats, woven bags, and lightweight natural fabrics. We imagined customers wearing these styles as easy everyday pieces that still feel polished and elevated.

-
Wedges are a prominent feature throughout the collection. What makes them the perfect construction for Summer 2026?
Wedges became a prominent feature in the collection because of the very positive response we received over the last year, combined with the continued evolution of the wedge trend in fashion. They offer an elevated look while still providing the comfort and stability that our customers value. For Summer 2026, wedges felt like the perfect balance between style and wearability – giving customers a bit of height and a more refined silhouette without sacrificing everyday comfort.
-
If you had to style your favorite pair from the Summer collection, which would you choose and how would you wear it?
I would probably choose the Sierra Sporty Sandals because they feel effortless, versatile, and very wearable for everyday summer styling. I would pair them with wide cropped cargo pants and an oversized short T-shirt for a relaxed, modern look that still feels polished.

Looking at Summer 2026 as a whole, what does this collection signal about where Wydr is heading next?
Looking at Summer 2026 as a whole, the collection signals an exciting expansion of the Wydr customer base through the introduction of trendier and dressier styles. While comfort and fit remain at the core of the brand, we are continuing to evolve the aesthetic direction by offering silhouettes that feel more fashion-forward and versatile.
